Happy November!
We've made it to the longest, most grey month in the calendar! (In my opinion of course!) But November crept up on me much like the rest of the year did.
The remaining days of October were great, though.
@Home with Marlene: Mid-October, I produced a special series with a local woman I met last year, Marlene MacPherson. @Home with Marlene is a 6 part series produced in Marlene's beautiful Bradford home. Marlene is an inspiring woman who not only battled breast cancer, but is currently facing a new challenge and doing so with so much grace. Among many, many other things, Marlene is the person who introduced me to Kale chips last summer!
Marlene's series welcomes a special guest each week who has faced his/her own adversity. One of the superstar guests has got to be Jakob, a six-year-old boy who currently has ALL (Leukemia). He won all of our hearts that day.
@Home with Marlene will start airing on Rogers TV on November 14.
Celebrating Life, Celebrating Hope. On October 30, I had the great honour of being involved with the 23rd annual CIBC Celebration of Hope Luncheon in support of the Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation.
I had the honour of wearing Canadian designer Franco Mirabelli, who was surprised to have to fit a belly this year!
The event was - once again - well received and honoured 4 breast cancer organizations, including the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, with a Hope Award.
Happy Halloween! I got to work on Halloween Day to my first trick - someone had mummified my chair!
The note - which I'm not sure you can see - says "Deal Julia, Heart you were going to be a mummy!" I found the culprit - a bunch of co-op students. Good times. Good kids.
Halloween @ Rogers TV was back with a vengence this year. I went with a more original costume and actually took home the prize for "Most Honest" Costume with my "Miss Conception" costume.
We also decked Rexy up for the night of trick-or-treaters. We recycled his costume from last year, but he didn't seem to mind!

Our great friend Allan Bell from MSH Foundation is the Creative Director of this annual event and it always brings out hundreds of men and women (mainly women) raising money for the Breast Health Centre at the Hospital.
