I first met Christine on twitter. We became twitter buddies, which sounds odd, but it's a real thing. We had never met in person, but we instantly hit it off; we were united by a common bond - we're preemie moms.
Christine was actually the first other preemie mum I spoke with. I found her online while my LO was still at Sunnybrook Hospital and she wrote back right away. I had the opportunity to meet Christine in person at the She's Connected Conference last month in October, and honestly, it was like we had known each other for years! Laughing and hugging and sharing gifts and stories.
Christine is one busy lady - in addition to being a super-preemie-mum, she's an active blogger, brand ambassador and community manager/partner. She's a super sweet and generous woman. So, I thought I'd help her out, if I could.
November is Prematurity Awareness Month, as I've mentioned a few times. Ahem. It's also when she delivered her baby girl, at only 980 grams. She often blogs about her Little One, and the sentiments only a parent who has spent time in the NICU can understand. Christine's LO is now a beautiful, healthy 4 year-old girl.
To commemorate the month, she is hosting a Charity Concert on Manitoulin Island.
For more info on Christine's event, visit: http://www.lifeonmanitoulin.com/2012/11/november-is-preemie-awareness-month.html. All of the proceeds are going back to the NICU at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Hopefully one day I'll get to visit the island and see Christine's life and her special princess. We may be separated by many, many kilometres, but in our hearts, we're kindred spirits.
Cheers to you, Christine, and best of luck.
