Did you know a child wears about 7,500 diapers before they turn two years old!? All new parents quickly realize the cost of diapers. In fact, whenever I find them on a super sale, I let everyone know and then stock up! You can never have too many diapers.
Unfortunately, many people in the GTA can't afford this basic baby necessity. In less than a week, I, and thousands of other parents will visit The BabyTime Show in Toronto. This year, the show has selected The Diaper Bank of Toronto as its charity of choice. The Diaper Bank collects donated diapers and cash donations - which will be used to purchase diapers - and distributes them free-of-charge to low-income households in Toronto. They work with food banks, daycare centres and shelters to do this.
According to their website, the first drive in 2010 collected more than 15,000 diapers. The bank has been growing ever since. If you're planning on heading to The BabyTime Show next week (November 9-11 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre), and you have extra diapers laying around the house that you're not using, please help a mum or dad in need by donating.
If you're not able to attend, you can still help the drive! Host a diaper drive this holiday season, and invite your friends and family to donate diapers to the cause. To locate all the diaper drive drop-off locations in the GTA, click here.
And hey! Want a chance to visit The BabyTime Show for free in Toronto? I'm giving away 4 pairs of tickets. Enter below for your chance to win.
