Happy New Year's Eve Eve! #januarycleanse

Happy New Year's Eve Eve! I took a well-needed week off blogging to celebrate Christmas with my family. It was a beautiful, albeit busy, week. I think we all need a vacation now. I hope your holidays were lovely as well.

As we gear up for 2015 (how the heck did that happen btw!?), I always like to reflect back on the year that has passed and instead of making a formal "resolution", I come up with tasks or activities going forward that will benefit me and my family's life.

In 2013, I wrote about the Good News Jar, an easy way to celebrate special, fleeting moments in your life. I may bring back the Good News Jar for 2015. It's also a great way to remember when your child hits major milestones (ie. crawling, walking, talking, etc).  In 2014, I wrote about our Mini Savings Plan, which I'm thrilled to report is done and we did it! I'm not sure we can fully commit to another year of weekly savings, but I still love the idea and maybe we can adapt it somehow.

For 2015, I created a new plan. It's my January cleanse, but this cleanse doesn't involve one shake, one smoothie, one diet. Instead, it's a cleaning schedule for tasks and annoying to-do's around the house that just, well, never get done. I dislike cleaning very much (LOL), but I do like charts and lists, and this is a great way to give yourself a task and ensure you get it done.

The theory is simple: instead of spending hours on a weekend doing many chores, split them up through the week and make your life somewhat easier. Break up these big jobs (ie. clean, purge, dust, mop kitchen), into many little jobs that you can achieve. This way, you will have small successes every single day instead of a big mess when life gets in the way.

You can create your own calendar, or list, and adapt it to your family's lifestyle. I saved the larger tasks to the weekend, when we have more time. And by all means, you don't have to do it in order. You don't even have to do it all in one month; I just like to have an end date!

So instead of a large plan for 2015, I'm starting small -- one month at a time. It's been a busy holiday season, but now it's time to detox, purge and cleanse.

Happy New Year everyone. And as we celebrate the end of one year and the start of another, I'd like to thank you all for the loyalty and support you've shown my blog.

Cheers!
