When I was a kid, my dad's signature gift to my mom was perfume. She always got a large bottle, and my sister and I got the mini bottle, or the samples of the matching fragrance. It was his thing, and we looked forward to seeing/smelling what was in store that year.
Some people may think perfume is a difficult gift to buy: it is very personal and you may not know for sure if they'll like the scent. That said, if you take into consideration the types of fragrances they currently wear, you can enlist the service of the staff at the fragrance counter to find a scent with similar qualities or notes. Plus, a sealed box can be easily returned or exchanged like any other gift (not that you want that)! Note: include the small sample so they can try that before opening the full bottle.
I've bought my husband fragrance on more than one occasion -- I based my decision on how I wanted him to smell. Personally, I love wearing powdery soft and sweet fragrances that have understated elegance. I've actually worn the same fragrance -- Angel by Thierry Mugler -- for decades, and I definitely think it's time to add some more options to my collection.
2014 marks the birth of the newest fragrance by Burberry for women -- My Burberry. It's been called the most significant fragrance from the company to date.
It's difficult to explain scent through text, but as soon as you spray it, the fragrance hits you -- My Burberry is bold and classic, sexy and elegant. I think this fragrance would be perfect for the woman who embodies these qualities -- confident, mature, classy and smart. The grand floral notes feature sweet pea and bergamot fuse with base notes of rose and patchouli. Like a fine, full bodied wine, this fragrance has depth and character, and will certainly leave an impression.
This fragrance has my mom's name written all over it.
My Burberry is available at The Bay, Holt Renfrew, Sephora and Shoppers Drug Mart. $135 for 100 ml.
Disclaimer: I received a bottle of My Burberry to test in order to write this review. As always, the opinions expressed on my blog remain my own.
