Kids are expensive. Scratch that. Kids' stuff is expensive. Between the clothing, the gear, the toys, (the toys, the toys, the toys), the furniture, the gadgets and the gizmos, chances are, if you're a parent, you've shelled out a LOT of dough for your little ones. The thing is, a lot of the stuff we "need" to buy gets used for a very short period of time.
Wouldn't you like to be able to purchase that item at a great discount?
Now in its 7th year, the Woodbridge Mom 2 Mom Sale is a great place to do just that. The Woodbridge Mom 2 Mom Sale runs like an indoor garage sale but instead of driving around visiting different yard sales, imagine 100 local moms gathered under one (indoor) roof. Parking is free and plentiful. This year's event takes place Saturday, May 23 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Vellore Village Community Centre in Woodbridge.
And the deals! Be prepared to score gently-used clothing and kids stuff for just a few dollars.
Organizer Sandra Moniz Prencipe started the Woodbridge Mom 2 Mom Sale as a way to get rid of her children's gently used clothing and "stuff". This grass-roots event has grown from a small, 20 person gathering to a large-scale community give-back project.
Each year, a different local charity is chosen to benefit financially and through awareness. This year, Kinark Family Services York Region is the benefactor and all monies collected from door entrance ($3 per adult) will be entirely donated to them. Vendors are also invited to donate left over baby clothing to a group called the Silent Children’s Mission benefiting children in Malawi and Guatemala.
Vendor spots are FULL for this year, but that doesn't mean you can't go and do some shopping! If you're a smart, serious shopper, you'll go early to get the best selection (some people line up as early as 8 a.m.!). But, strategic shoppers also wait until the end to do their best bargaining. Whatever your strategy, be sure to make some room in your car for some great purchases. Gift bags will be available to the first 100 moms, filled with goodies. Happy shopping!
