When was the last time?
When was the last time you stopped to smell the flowers? Literally?
As a child, I didn't enjoy being outside. Sounds strange, but I remember my parents pushing me out to get some fresh air. To take a break and breathe in nature.
As an adult, though, I enjoy being outdoors (even in the winter sometimes, but especially in the Spring, Summer and Fall). Now, while I wouldn't exactly call myself outdoorsy or rustic, there is a certain calm I feel being out in nature.
I've taken note of this feeling and I try and replicate it. In fact, when I'm feeling overwhelmed or stressed about the number of items on my to-do lists, or an upcoming project or decision, I intentionally sideline it to spend time outdoors. I feel it brings me weightless tranquillity.
This weekend, amidst all the things I needed to get done, we made time to tidy the yard, and I purchased these beautiful tulips to bring some colour into our home. And you know what? I got more done than I typically do on a busy weekend.
What do you do to find calm in a busy lifestyle?
