It's dance performance time! If you're a dance mom or dad, you know there's a lot to consider to prep and pack for your young dancer: costume, shoes, change of clothes, make up. And if you have a little ballerina, you need to master making a ballet bun.
Now, I have a bit of an edge here, because I danced much of my life, so I'm pretty much a bunhead. But even back then, I remember parents struggling and stressing with how to make a great bun.
There are a few different techniques to bun making, but it's not all that difficult at all. I don't use any bun helpers or socks or sponges or anything like that. Now, it's obviously easier to make a bun with long hair, but the techniques are the same, and while it may take a bit of practice if you have the right tools and hair supplies, you'll be a master in no time.
I taught Donny how to make a bun a couple years back, and he's officially a pro! If you're an absolute beginner, using wet hair will be easier for you -- and have gel and hairspray on hand.
I put together this quick video to show you the steps I use to make a performance-ready ballet bun.
