One of our summer bucket list items every year is to take in local festivals and community events.
It’s a great way to meet up with friends, learn about services and businesses in the community and spend a few hours outdoors. Best of all, these events are usually inexpensive, if not free.
Between local fairs and markets, food festival and vendor shows, our family has done a pretty good job of exploring the surrounding and nearby communities. And I love that.
This coming weekend, we’re super excited got attend a Family Fun Day, hosted by the Regional Municipality of York. This free, interactive, family-oriented event is celebrating National Public Works Week and the Fun Day will help promote public awareness of the many services operated by York Region, like York Region Transit services, providing clean and safe drinking water, building and maintaining the Regional road network, processing solid waste and protecting the York Regional Forest.
There will be displays and hands-on activities for the entire family, a charity BBQ and lots of info on exploring the Region’s trail system, by foot, bike and hike.
It all takes place on Saturday, May 25 from 10 am to 3 pm at the YRT/Viva Bus Depot in the Town of Richmond Hill: 55 Orlando Avenue. For more info: www.york.ca/familyfunday
For free shuttle service, you can park your car at Richmond Hill Centre and take York Region Transit to Family Fun Day. Visit yrt.ca for the schedule. Hope to see you there!
