For as long as I can remember, Canada Day (and the weekend surrounding it) has been one spent with family, BBQ and fireworks. It's the official kick-off to summer and a chance to celebrate the beautiful country we call home.
A perfect place to celebrate this weekend is at Canada's Wonderland. Every year, the park goes all out for the occasion and this year is no different. From now until July 14, you can visit Celebration Canada at Frontier Canada (the area between TimberWolf Falls and Flying Canoes) and take in some good ol' Canadian charm and fun.
From live entertainment to free activities, Canadian beer, Caesars and a variety of Canadiana cuisine, it's a great place to soak up the sun and the Canadian goodness daily from 12-7 pm.
So let's chat about the food for this special event. You can opt to order a la carte or purchase a tasting passport, which gets you 4 items for $25. The food tents open at 1 pm, and they have everything from Fish 'n Chips to Shrimp Mac & Cheese, Pork Sliders and Wood Oven Pizza. Do you have a dining plan? Good news! You can use your dining plan for select items at Celebration Canada -- just look for the fork and knife symbol and you're good to go.
And that's not all. Other featured entertainment includes the internationally-known West Coast Lumberjacks, the Flying Frontenacs Stunt & Dive Show, Starlight Spectacular -- a night-time spectacle celebrating the natural beauty of Canada -- and new this year, Tundra -- A Cirque Experience. (I will have to go back to see Tundra and the Starlight Spectacular!)
Oh, and of course, there are all the rides --including the newest and largest coaster -- Yukon Striker. (But that's available all season long, of course!)
For those wanting to see fireworks, Canada's Wonderland always puts on an impressive show with fireworks set to an original soundtrack and more than 6,000 colourful explosions. The show begins at 10 pm on July 1, weather permitting.
Canada’s Wonderland will also be offering complimentary admission to all active and retired personnel of the Canadian Armed Forces from Friday, June 28 through Monday, July 1. For more information on Celebration Canada, you can visit Canada's Wonderland's website or download their mobile app.
