Does anyone else consider the end of summer or the start of fall almost like a new year? In addition to the changing of the seasons and weather, there's also the start of a school year, and for businesses, the start of Q4 -- you always want to end the year off strong.
For me, I also take the opportunity to reflect back on the summer and assess what my priorities are -- personally, professionally and at home (which is different). What lessons have I learned (some harder than others), what do I have to celebrate, what am I proud of, what am I yearning for? I think, as parents, we get caught up in the day-to-day that we often don't pause to take stock, give ourselves a pat on the back, while at the same time, holding ourselves accountable for the future.
Here are my fall priorities:
I've spent a considerable amount of time pondering my role in the social landscape and where I fit into it. What sort of content I want to create and share? I'm looking forward to new ventures and exciting things coming in Fall 2019, but I'm not done yet. Of course, if there's anything you'd like to see, please let me know!
And then there's my little business that is growing and changing and evolving, much like myself, every day. I'm looking forward to hiring some part-time and freelancers who can further help me grow the business.
At home? I want to do a clean sweep -- this has been happening for a few months at least, but I want to get organized as the kids go off to school so we're all set up for success. That means purging, cleaning, painting. I want to check off those last few items off the to-do list and have some tidy places to take us into the fall.
So there you go -- we've had a great summer full of memories. Now it's time to get our butts into gear.
