There are a few things you need to know about me: I love stories. I love telling stories, listening to stories, writing, producing, crafting stories. I am fortunate to have been able to channel this love into my career and business, hence loving what I do.
I also love jewellery -- all types, all stones. There isn't a sparkle I haven't loved.
Now -- let me tell you a story about the earrings that I'm wearing. These aren't any ordinary earrings. They are designed by Farrukh Lalani, founder of a Canadian jewellery company called Daria Day.
Daria Day works with artisans living in remote mountain communities in Northern Pakistan -- some of the poorest and most isolated communities in the world.
These handcrafted earrings with a beautiful moonstone dangle, sourced in Skardu, were actually made by a woman named Gulzar from Attabad Hunza. Gulzar was given an opportunity to be prosperous and grow.
And now I share her story.
Daria Day jewellery is ethically sourced and they are committed to honouring the lives of the artisans who create each piece. The company works with a group of local miners to source the gemstones and the silver; "they are closely affiliated with the Rupani Foundation, an NGO that ensures the gemstones are of the highest quality."
And together with the healing power of each gemstone, we are now connected.
If you are looking for a unique gift this holiday season, a gift with a story, a gift with purpose, I encourage you to learn more about Daria Day, and the work they do to create beautiful jewellery, but also empower women in the world.
You can search the website by gemstone, collection or style and order directly online. Each piece of jewellery comes with a postcard letting you know who made the piece and where.
A gift of jewellery usually starts a story. It could be a piece to recognize a life moment or to celebrate an important time. Daria Day jewellery comes with a story -- and it's our turn to continue passing it along.
Disclaimer: I received a pair of earrings in order to write this piece. As always, the opinions on my blog are my own.
