Our family is heading into Week 7.
On one hand, I can’t believe it. On the other, I feel like we’re finally getting into a groove.
There’s been a lot of talk online (cause, where else do you talk right now!?), about all we’re missing by being in self-isolation: family, school, outings, dinner at restaurants, travel, events, etc.
But I want to turn the tables and ask you: if this was all over next week (which it won’t be), what will you miss about this time? What have you enjoyed about being in self-isolation? Don’t get me wrong – I’d much rather be out – but, perspective.
- I’m going to miss waking up and not rushing anywhere. Having the time to make my bed with fancy pillows. Staying up as late as I want.
- I’m going to miss weekends where we can actually sleep in and have time to clean, organize, play, watch movies, or do nothing at all.
- I’m going to miss the togetherness. See, I work alone every day, most of the year. To have company throughout the day – even when I’m trying desperately to work – is actually nice.
I’m NOT going to miss e-learning, deck visits and policing kid fights – but I am grateful for this time, as weird as it is. For the first time in a long time, my brain actually feels clearer and more focused – maybe I need to thank the universe for that.
And I have to believe and pray: in the grand scheme, this time will be a blip, but one we (hopefully) won’t get to experience again.
What will you miss?
