This weekend, on a walk, my daughter noticed a tree decorated in rainbow ribbons.
"They must be having a party," she noted.
"They are," I said. "Those ribbons are actually for Pride Week. Do you remember what Pride Week is?"
I went on to explain that those rainbows are to show love and acceptance of all people, regardless of who they love and their gender. I reminded her that in our home, everyone is welcome; it doesn't matter who you love, we love you.
"Can we put ribbons outside our house?"
"Absolutely," I said.
If you're raising a little human, teach them to be kind, fair, accepting and generous to all.
One love. Happy Pride.
