Is there anything better than an autumn weekend?
Warm sunshine, little humidity and crispness make for a perfect combination of comfort and enjoyment, for me at least.
Social distancing rules and Covid-19 protocols makes it challenging to gather or visit busy areas.
Here are 5 things you can do this weekend while maintaining social distancing:
- Apple Picking: research various farms, book appointments or go early, if possible. Respect the individual farm policies including wearing masks when speaking with staff and maintaining physical distance with other guests;
- Pumpkins, Pumpkins! Similar to Apple Orchards, there are many local pumpkin patches and farms. We love to visit a farm in Loretto on County Road 1; the farmer donates 10% of all proceeds to local charities;
- Nature Walk or Hike: literally one of my favourite things to do in the fall. Find a conservation area, pack a water bottle and go! Last year, we visited Mono Cliffs Provincial Park, but we’re also big fans of TRCA trails including Bruce’s Mill and Kortright Centre. Also, it’s the season for charity walks and events — most (if not, all) are virtual this year, including the Run for the Cure in Vaughan
- Just drive: you can explore without leaving your vehicle. We love driving north to see the mountains and leaves changing colour 🍁; stop at a Farmer’s Market and pick up local produce while you’re on the the road;
What’s your favourite thing to do in the fall?
