This is me. No makeup. Unfiltered. Unedited.
I don’t know why I feel the need to tell you that; I’m often without makeup and unfiltered, but maybe because so much of what we see and consume is adjusted in some way?, so I thought I’d be a bit more raw with you.
I love a filter and makeup more than most people I know — but for this post today, I wanted to talk to you about my skin. My naked skin.
I often get comments on how “perfect” my skin is. It’s not. There is some hyperpigmentation, sun spots, the occasional break out and dehydration.
At almost 39, I have definitely abused my skin (not enough sunscreen, for example), for many years. And like everyone tells you: it catches up to you.
A few years ago, I met Daniela at Freedom Medi-Spa. I think I remember telling her I “hated” facials. She worked with me to come up with a skin routine I didn’t hate. We started with products, and then laser treatments, a light microdermabrasion and last year I had my first peel. Despite the fact that her clinic is closed due to lockdown, I’m still practising my regular skincare routine, every single day.
And my skin is thanking me for it.
I have learned so much about my skin over the last few years — when it’s dry, when it needs an extra boost, when it needs to shed a layer — and because of that knowledge, my skin looks and feels better than ever before. I’m giving it what it needs.
If you are having skin concerns, or if you’re just getting older and want a routine that works, I suggest you give her a call and book yourself a free virtual consultation. She’ll address your concerns and give you a plan that’s manageable for you. And if you’re looking for a gift to give yourself this holiday, this is a wonderful investment.
PS — taking unfiltered, unedited selfies? Stand by a window :)
